Reina Sofia.

The Reina Sofia visit introduced us to a new form of art we had never thought existed before. We found out that bird cages, stacks of hay, hat rack and creepy movies are considered art, by a movement referred to as universalism. Indeed for many modern artists this kind of abstraction represents a denial of the past in favor of a brave new world, a tabula rasa, while for others this art form represents an opportunity to create a symbolic dialogue with history, tradition and spirituality. Contemporary art depends mostly on meanings and messages which are very hard to read most of the time. In fact contemporary artists do not try to create beauty, instead their goal is to create profound meanings and above all to shock!
